Bundaberg Regional Aquatic Centre

The Bundaberg Regional Aquatic Centre is a landmark new state-of-the-art facility designed by DWP and Hydrautech Designs, delivering a world-class aquatic destination that meets the diverse needs of a growing community — from learn-to-swim and rehabilitation to disability access and elite training and competition.

The completed aquatic centre features three outstanding pools: a 50m FINA standard Olympic pool, a 25m FINA standard pool suited to learn-to-swim and aqua aerobics programs, and a warm water program pool accommodating learn-to-swim, aqua aerobics and water-based physiotherapy. Every pool includes aquatic platform lifts, ramps and ladders, and the 25m and warm water program pools are also fitted with a hoist.

The 50m pool accommodates underwater hockey and water polo, with strict tolerances to FINA requirements for each sport achieved in the design and build.

APS was engaged by the Main Contractor, Woollam Constructions, under a Construct Contract for the Aquatic Works.

Collaborating with and co-ordinating the industry’s best and most experienced trades and professionals, APS was responsible for the design, construction and installation of all structural, hydraulic, finishes and fit-out elements for the entire project.

The pools were finished using a Sopro and Agrob pool tile system, with the tiling works subject to APS’s stringent QA procedures, providing the client with an extended 10 year warranty.

The Bundaberg Aquatic Centre received Commendations at both the 2026 Central Queensland Regional Architecture Awards and the 2026 Queensland Architecture Awards.
