Mike Hopkinson Project Director

Mike Hopkinson stands as one of the most accomplished figures in the Australian aquatic construction industry. With over 30 years of hands-on experience, Mike has played a pivotal role in shaping the delivery standards of commercial aquatic projects across the nation. As Director of Aquatic Project Solutions (APS), Mike has established the company as a respected leader known for its technical excellence, unwavering integrity, and consistent project success.

Mike’s deep technical expertise is renowned for leading the delivery of some of the country’s most complex aquatic centres, including high-profile developments for government, education, defense, and private sectors. Mike has directed aquatic projects over $50 million and consistently delivers outcomes that exceed expectations.

Niamh Murray Project Co-Ordinator

Niamh Murray is a highly experienced and professional individual with a wealth of knowledge in the Aquatic Construction Industry.

Niamh has a Bachelor of Business (Hon) majoring in Sports Management and has worked within the Aquatic and Leisure Industry for the past 19 Years.  She has the unique insight of not only being involved in the Construction of Aquatic Facilities but also in the Operation and Management of Facilities which gives her the rare ability to foresee potential operational risks and negate these during the design and construction process.

Since Aquatic Project Solutions inception Niamh has developed the company’s Management Systems, developing the companies estimating, cost control and quality systems.  She has the knowledge and skills to manage the Project Administration Team effectively and efficiently and oversee Quality Planning & Control, HSE, Documentation and Cost Control within a project.

Niamh has been involved in many Aquatic Projects from estimating through to final completion and has in depth experience of Construction procedures and processes.  She is highly experienced in QA processes and her understanding of Fully Tiled systems has led to a fully documented quality control system that is now being utilized throughout the industry.

One of Niamh’s many areas of expertise is her knowledge of World Aquatics (FINA) regulations and codes, Public Health regulations and Codes of Practices.  She is often called on by builders and consultants during design phases for her advice on impacts of regulations on designs and cost budgets for project planning.

Marcel Relouw Project Manager

Marcel Relouw has over 30 years of construction and development experience with a proven track record that includes a dense portfolio of managing large-scale, high-profile projects for both local governments and private sector clients up to $100m in value.

Marcel’s extensive construction industry background gives him an invaluable broad skillset providing him with a unique blend of design, engineering and management expertise.  Marcel’s on the ground experience allows him to not only resolve complex project issues but to foresee potential issues and provide efficient, cost-effective solutions.

By placing a strong emphasis on building excellent relationships with both his clients and project partners, he achieves superior project outcomes that consistently exceed expectations.

Marcel has an in-depth knowledge of the NCC, Building Regulations, Australian Standards and Codes of Practices.  His commitment to ‘getting it right first time’ is evident in the quality of the projects he delivers and he eagerly shares his approach and passion for quality with all project team members, from the ground up.

With a keen focus on safety Marcel has a zero harm approach and instils this into his project teams.

Matthew Sherlock Site Supervisor

Matthew is an experienced and hands on Site Supervisor who has been working in the Aquatic Construction Industry for the past 10 years.  Prior to this Matthew worked in the Construction Industry installing and constructing Skate Parks, Playgrounds, Splash Pads and other major commercial landscaping projects.

Matthew is a Certified ELBE and CGT Vinyl Membrane Installer, Certified SkyPool Installer, Myrtha Pool Installer, High Pressure Water Blaster Operator and holds a Pool Operators Group 2-4 License.  He specializes in membrane installation and is the Australasian ELBE and CGT Technical Supervisor.

Matthew has extensive experience overseeing variety of project trades.  Due to his in depth knowledge of each construction phase he can foresee future phases and impacts and manage the project schedule accordingly.

Matthew is responsible for implementing on site quality procedures and has vast experience with both fully tiled and liner systems.

He oversees on site HSE and conducts all site pre-starts, inductions, and toolbox talks.  His zero harm approach is adopted by his fellow site staff, and he has an impeccable safety record.
